Thanks, guys! We had to make some serious changes to stop the spam but our efforts have pretty much shut it down. The main thing we did was make registration a manual process. So now, all new accounts have to send me an e-mail approval request. Then I check the account and manually approve it. It's a bit more work but hardly any new spam accounts are getting registered now. If you do notice spam, check the accounts registration date and you'll probably find that it was registered in May or earlier - before we made the changes. I've also deleted thousands of spam accounts and banned IPs for thousands of accounts. Basically, I've made it very difficult for spammers to efficiently abuse these forums.

That's the whole point - make our moderators happier and free up their time to post more, encourage others to post more, and get people to write more user reviews. That's a much better way for all of the leaders here to spend their time and energy

It is soooooooooo much better. A bit more effort required to join maybe but if you're serious, its worth the effort, I would think.
I don't know when the last time was that I've seen any spam at all.

I too would like to say a huge thanks to Photo John and all the Mods that worked so hard to get rid of the spam.

I also want to say a special thanks to Jeff (Grandpaw) for all the time spent chasing around the spammers before the change.
