    Malware warning

I just clicked to go to this site and this screen appeared with an alarm sounding.

    Re: Malware warning

I've also had this site set off iolo System Shield 3 or 4 times in the last couple days. I didn't realize it was this site until just now (I usually have multiple tabs open). But for me it's always picking up this file and calling it a trojan:

    Anyone else getting this warning?

    Re: Malware warning

I did not have a big problem, but a questionable "crash" while trying to access Viewfinder earlier. PR disappeared and I had a message something like - "This website caused a problem........" However, I didn't read the "details" because I just assumed it was a temporary glitch. I'm only sharing it now because others had a problem earlier, and it may or may not be related.

    Re: Malware warning

I was just going to start another, but found this. I just had an "unsafe site" warning me to get off, that this site contains links to sites which go after personal information. In the meantime, over the past week, Norton Antivirus has removed several Trojan viruses.

Didn't say where they were from, but now I'm concerned also.

    Re: Malware warning

wonder if they are spam links and the warnings go away as the spam is deleted?

    Re: Malware warning

Periodically one of the ads served uses a tracking cookie that virus software doesn't like. Your best bet is to have your virus software remove those cookies. I haven't seen any warnings today or yesterday and I use IE and Firefox. Warnings also depend on your browser security settings and the ads you see could be geographically or even personally targeted. There are thousands of variables now.

There was a site problem yesterday morning with an ad that was breaking everything. That was fixed pretty quickly, though.

byaa got in just like you did - by registering. There's no other way. It's after they registered the account that they unleashed some sort of spam robot on us. There's not really anything we can do about that but delete as fast as we can and then ban the account.

I use Firefox, Chrome, and occasionally IE and have gotten the warnings on all of them on both my laptops.

    Re: Malware warning

Hmmmm - I just took a closer look at the screenshot you posted. It says it's a PDF file. I don't think there's any way an ad or anything on our site would try to download a PDF file. Whenever I get a warning it's because of a cookie from one of the big online ad agencies. Tracking cookies are standard practice for them now. But a PDF is completely different. That makes me wonder if it came from somewhere else and was somehow triggered while you're on the forums. Have you done a full virus scan since this happened?
