    An idea...

What about having a debate forum? Keeping in mind that debate doesn't equal fighting about...lol. I've seen a lot of good debate fodder on the regular forums that we have, and it seems like it would be really cool to have an actual "perfect place" for it.

Maybe it would be too complicated?

It might not be necessary, but it might also be kind of a fun thing to have.

Have you ever visited the Political/Socio/Economic forum on MTBR? Now THAT is a debate forum, a lions den.

    Good idea Emily

We do have the Off-Topic forum for things like that. We tend to stay pretty civil over there but I'll bet you could rile everybody up with just the right topic Come on over and post one!

Oh, and as long as it's a relevant photo-themed debate, it's okay to have them in the forums. Photo-John actually encourages them

Yes, interesting, but it's an idea that's...

...redundant in a repetitive, duplicative, reiterative, over and over, again and again, recapitulatory sorta way.

What I mean is we already debate every conceivable topic imaginable, both photo and non-photo, in all the forums all the time, so, it's like, ya know?...

Lol jorgemonkey...I haven't visited there, but there have been some out there that were like that. You wouldn't believe how heated the "Feeding Choices" debate board gets on babycenter.com...LOL.

Rick & Steve...I getcha on the fact that things are debated in the other forums, actually that was what made me suggest this....not to be redundant though!

It was just something I thought I'd toss out there...this is a big board with lots for the mods and admin to manage, so I really can understand if this isn't something that would be worthwhile.

Too many people can't debate here without getting emotional and attacking the person instead of the argument or the reasoning. This includes the moderators by the way.

One of the problems is that some of the moderators have limited photographic experience but feel threatened by anyone who disagrees with their photographic judgements.

I'm glad he didn't say they disagreed with people who had better judgement, or had more experience - that wouldn't go well at all.

And some of the members are incapable of seeing any other view but there own.

Steve hit the nail on the head. All the forum are debate forums.

Well, I don't have very much photographic experience or knowledge, but at least I hope I have enough to put in my 2 cents once in awhile. After all, after 53 years on this planet, I hope I've learned a little.
