How to view any new reponses

I am new to this site and I was wondering if there is an easy way to find out when people answer your thread other than just refreshing the page?

Yes.

Up in the blue menu bar, there is a New Posts option that you can use to see all the new posts since last time you logged in.

Also in your User Control Panel you can choose to receive email when anyone replies to your threads.
In the same blue menu bar, ckick on My Account and then in the menu on the left, choose Edit Options
Scroll down to Default Thread Subscription Mode

When you post a new thread, or reply to a topic, you can choose to automatically add that thread to your list of subscribed threads, with the option to receive email notification of new replies to that thread.

The options in the drop down list are:
Do not subscribe
No email notification
Instant email notification
Daily email notification
Weekly email notification

One of the email options ought to do what you want.
