    PR Ad Annoyance

There is a PR ad - "Kodak Easyshare" that has a camera projected onto the screen from the ad at the top of the page. This happens every time I log into PR. Today it has been freezing my screen.

I haven't gotten any pop-ups for at least a year as I have my pc set. Is there some way to get rid of this thing? There is no "x" in the corner to close it.

    Thanks.

Yep is annoying and happened to me regularly yesterday, although didn't freeze my screen just took longer to get going. Happened on screen changes as well.

I didn't see this ad with Firefox (lucky I guess). I'd bet its done with something such as Flash. The easiest and best way to dump this stuff is to just uninstall the annoying plug-ins. I do not run Flash anymore and haven't missed anything worth seeing.

You can also try the latest version of Opera, now free. Opera lets you install the plug-ins but then selectively turn them on and off individually. You can also control Java and Java Script the same way. This is the coolest feature I've seen in a long time.

I saw it earlier with Internet Explorer, but now I'm looking at it thru Firefox and it's not there. I agree, it's almost as annoying as some of those ads from a year or two ago. I didn't have anything freeze up, though.

It is showing up with Netscape as well as IE. If anybody cares.

It is some sort of Macromedia remote site menace. The router at work blocked it, but at home I'm going to have to reconfigure this router or something. This spinning camera is real annoying, and Big K has the easy fixes blocked and I can't just reconfigure Macromedia.

    Liz,

If you are running the newest version of Internet Explorer under tools Manage Add-ons you can actually disable the flash player if you want to, that will help alot I think. I have done it. Will turn it back on when needed like to play flash games online, which I never do much of the time.

    Try it and see.
