"Cant do searches within 30 seconds?"

I'm getting the "I'm sorry, the administrator has specified you cannot do more than one search in 30 seconds" message quite a bit lately. Trouble is, I'm pretty sure I'm waiting more than 30 seconds. Sometimes I've read through an entire thread, and for instance today, I watched an entire segment on MadTV before clicking. Still got the message.

I'm trying to view by "new posts" in all cases.

Why the limit? Does it serve a purpose? And is it broken?

Is it the search circled in red, or the one in blue?
Are you searching for keywords or names?
I'm just trying to gather information because I can't seem to duplicate the problem.

nope, the one to the left of the one circled in red. "New Posts".

It doesn't do it if I wait, say, 5 minutes, but it does seem to do it within a minute...longer than 30 seconds but not longer than 2 minutes.

    Kelly,

It is common for web forums to do this to stop flooding of a forum and cause it to crash. There are lots of forums using common Forum Software that this happens on. Just have to learn to live with it. Remember watching the pot boil always seems like a long time.

Kelly, when you click on "new posts" you get the time out?
If that's the case, I think it is happening when the servers are being hit hard. Not just PR, but all the Consumer Review sites.

could be. Or could it be my browser is sending faulty information? I'm having some new troubles on another board ... half the time I go to post, my download window comes up and says it's downloading the aspx. Totally annoying!

It may be your browser Kelly. If you are encountering problems with other sites, it's a distinct possibility. Which browser are you using, and what version?

I have always used Internet Explorer and am currently running IE service pac 2.

Re: "Cant do searches within 30 seconds?"

I have a mac, switched away from IE to Safari a couple years ago, recently switched to Firefox, but have now been using Safari again on a new computer.

I've got issues with all of them for one reason or another. Firefox is great handling popups but doesn't have a couple features I like on Safari and doesn't handle java applets well at all. Safari is fun to use, but I occasionally run up against a bug or two. And I switched away from IE because I didn't trust that it didn't have a "backdoor" way of accessing it.

Hmm, the only thing I can think of is to try accessing PR with I.E. If it works fine, then it's the Safari browser and the way it reads our code.
