Lightbulb Adding camera choices to gallery

Is there a way we can request that cameras be added to the list of choices we pick from when posting to the gallery? The only one of my cameras listed is, I think, the digicam (Nikon 4500). I have a whole list of ones not though. It seems like only newer cameras are up there. But yeah, as for my Pentax K-1000 & ZX-10 (now deceased) & Honeywell, Kodak Retina rangefinder - I'm out of luck. Maybe an other "write in" box?

I would like to be able to specify which cameras/lenses are mine and then add them to some sort of preferences, so that I don't have to scroll through the whole list each and every time.

    Possible?

Re: Adding camera choices to gallery

Ran into a real pain posting yesterday. I left the camera field as "none" and was spat back the form.

I mean, we're here to talk about cameras, but aren't we also here to talk about, I dunno, photography maybe.

What am I suppose to do? Seriously?

Yeah, I'm being a snippy, but it's just stupid to say that, basically, any images that come from a camera that is not in current production are not worth sharing. Let's just change it to new-consumer-equipment-because-you-need-the-newest-latest-digi-everything-now-review.com and get it over with.

I'm not asking for a Zorki 2 forum, just the very most common older cameras to be added.

It also gooes up the system when you have to select a camera that you did not use. Click on ZX-M examples now and you get about half of my photos. I've never owned a ZX-M and won't consider it close to what I shoot with - but it's closer than anything else on the list.

And yes, I do feel better now. One rant every hundred posts is all I really need.

    Apology

    tijean-
I'm sorry (hanging head). You should be able to select the "none" option, and all cameras in the reviews should be listed. I just sent a detailed list of gallery bugs to my engineering team and I thought everything was fixed. I looked and saw that archived equipment was listed, but I didn't test thoroughly - obviously. I'l check it again right now, see if I can break anything, and send a follow-up list the engineers. I think we all want it to work exactly the same way. I'm not trying to limit people to current equipment and I want to make sure the form does what it's supposed to. I'm sorry about the problems and I apologize for the frutration they're causing you. I do think we have made some progrees, though. Gotta look at the bright side...

John, I know you're working hard over there and my previous post was more than a little harsh.

So when's that full DS review coming? That would quiet the old crazy for quite a while.(kidding, kidding, kidding - and actually, now that I have mine, I'm not concerned)

Re: Adding camera choices to gallery

I just did some more testing. It looks like all of the archived digital cameras are showing now, but the archived 35mm SLRs aren't. The problem isn't that we're trying to exclude equipment, it's a combination of the way we've set up the database and miscommunication between me and the engineering staff. Anyway, I sen them another e-mail with more specific details. And I requested that the "None" option be made to work correctly. I want to coerce people into listing their camera, as much as possible. But I can see how, if your camera isn't listed, that might really be annoying,

I tried editing one of my images, too. That worked fine. I know there used to be problems with editing. The equipment listed would change. That doesn't appear to be the case now. Try editing one of your images that has the wrong equipment listed and see if it works.

I haven't talked to Pentax since before Christmas. I need to contact them, though. I have to get a winner for the review contest and I do want to test the Pentax *ist DS. Thanks for reminding me. You posted a review right after you got it, didn't you? Do you want to update that review?

Thanks for staying on me and thanks for being patient.

    Oops...

Okay, I can scratch the review off of my to-do list now, though with my limited experience with newer camers (Pentax ZX-10 I just never bonded with, a Coolpix 4500, my friend's D70, and various Rebels of different formats and vintages) I'm afraid that my thoughts on it are quite tainted by the fact that I am impressed by features available in 15 year old, $100 cameras. (oooooooooh auuuuutofocus!!! and ohmigod it meters over a second?). It will be interesting to see what someone with worlds more experience will think of it.
