I am excited about trying it out. I played with it in the store and just have to wait for them to ship it to me. By having it shipped I can eliminate the taxes and just pay a small shipping charge saving a couple hundred dollars. I love new toys!

Welcome to the FX club. I think you made the right decision.

I hope you will write up your observations over the next few weeks.

Charles, I have one observation already and that is with the combination of the D600, the grip, and that Tamron F2.8 lens I should be building my are muscles up by shooting with this combination. It is definitely an attention getter with how much it weighs.

Re: Nikon D600 on the way

That's how I started with the D800, burdened down with the Monster 28-70 f2.8 Nikon - and the thought that I was shooting 36 MPix and I wanted to see detail not blur.

After about three months I was fed up with carrying this lot around, I wanted to go back to something that would fit in my favourite bags like the D300. So I bought the 24-85VR - which is very little bigger than a 50mm - and now that's what I use most of the time on the D800. The lightweight 70-300VR is also in my bag if I want to go longer.

Nobody pays any attention to me any more which is fine.
