Came across this on a hike in Joshua Tree National Forest. Any thoughts?

I think this is a great find. I hope you had the chance to walk around and take a e few more shots ...it is a subject with great potential. This photo is well exposed and the colors are really nice. I am not sure if I would have included the blurry bush in the front, but it sort of works. The car is very sharp and in focus, with the background a little out of focus ...and I like that.

Thanks llewpics, I agree about the bush, unfortunately I wanted to get this angle with my 100mm macro lens and I had to include that bush. I wasn't sure if it ruined the shot or not, the main reason I posted this shot. I did get about 200 shots from every angle, even some close up macro shots. Here is another one I liked, I just wished it was from a lower perspective. What do you think.

I like the second one better. This looks like it was later in the day and the warm light works well. It reminds of Grapes of Wrath book ...cool.

I think these would work even better in black and white, especially the first one with the washed out surroundings..

I like the second one better from a composition standpoint.
It would be a cool place to revisit under different lighting, either sunrise or sunset or maybe even under the moon and stars. Or stormy skies...

Actually it was sunrise, the first shot was at sunrise and the second was about ten minutes after. The sun comes up fast and hard in the desert.

I didn't even think about Black and White. I liked the color so much from the rust. I will play with some B&W shots

How did you move the car?

Matt - I like the second posting better because it shows the JT rocks. I see that the DOF is purposely shallow to separate it from the rocks, but I would prefer the entire car be sharp. I may also crop a little off the bottom, but this is a nit pick.

This is a great find (where is it there?). However, it's also a little hard to see this as a car/truck because the seats have fallen down. Guess you can't expect things to be in great shape out there though.

I think of the famous Bodie (ghost town) car and how good of shape it is in, but that's only because it's a very controlled park and scavenging/shooting isn't allowed.

Adamo, I asked how you moved the car because, evne though the first two shots are almost, if not, identical angle, the background has changed drastically? Am I missing something?

The fist image was shot with a 100mm macro lens, which is why that bush is in the shot. I had to stand pretty far away to get the entire car/truck in the shot. I love that lens, but I have to move around to get the shots I want and sometimes its impossible without bringing a sledge hammer and a weed whacker with me. The second was shot with a 25mm wide angle lens at a much closer distance.
