    On The Edge

Here is one from this past weekend it's my first time shooting someone faster than my
5y/o. One thing that i dislike about the ice arena is that they have a net going from the glass to the ceiling, so i have to shoot through it.

    Re: On The Edge

You exposed perfectly and the shot is nice and sharp.

Now that you mention it, I can just see the net in the image. It doesn't bother me a bit.

What does bother me is the yellow line above the kids head, I think this would look better with that cropped out. I do like the empty ice at the bottom of the frame.

    Got any more?
    No, I DON'T need that.

Thanks for the comments MB1. Here are some more, I did find a couple from the players bench. #4 the sticks are crossed right where the glass and net come together. Thanks again for the comments.

    Bookie,

All of these images would benefit from cropping. I also suggest downloading to a larger size. Larger images have more impact than the relatively small sizes displayed here.

    Re: On The Edge

Thanks Bob, on the size, I just started using Flickr and when I grabbed the BBCode it was set to medium size (640 long edge). With the cropping I didnt want to go to close since they are cropped quite a bit. I tend to shoot a little wider than I probaly should and then crop in, that way I'm sure i get all of the subject including an arm reaching out with the stick or some thing like that. New to the hockey pics, just trying to get a "feel" for it. I have only been shooting hockey since October, my son started playing then, so I'm quite "green".
    Thanks for the c.c.

Best way to deal with that fence is get as close as possible, shoot wide open as possible, and longest focal length possible. That makes it the most blurred and least obstructive.

    Re: On The Edge

Thanks Paul, I noticed that as I was looking through the pictures, if they were cross ice the net wasn't as noticeable. Thanks for the tip!
