    hmm, where to crop?

I'd like your opinions on this please.

Using the Panasonic 7-14 is giving me a dilemma, where to crop?
I am going to come to love the effect of shooting this wide, but right now I'm having framing/cropping indecision.

I think I'd crop this just below the two reflected blobs (they're reed heads) on the left, shifting the buildings and shoreline down to about 1/3.

Paul, I think I would consider cropping this one down from the top. i like the murky texture and reflections in the water, and the sky is not all that exciting. Just close to the top of the tree on the left.

I agree chop from the top since the skies aren't that spectacular. But that in turn renders the photo darker. That's another thing I think you need to keep in mind. do you want a bright happier photo or a darker more grim one? if it's the brighter then chop from the bottom if you don't mind the new darker feel then I would suggest from the top.

I'd crop a good 3cm above the copyright mark and take the tree out on the right of the shot with the crop. Lovely soft shot, great reflection and cloud pattern.

    Re: hmm, where to crop?

I say don't. I realize why you want to crop it, but I just think that it's so well balanced that it's at it's peak composition already. If you crop off some of the sky btw, you will lose that cool looking tree on the right.

A shot like this would be ideal for a poster where you could put Text in the sky area.
