    Dirt face.

What you might want to know.

I shot this portrait for a band. Like most bands, they wanted shots in an old rotten place that I knew of, and for me to drag lights out there  . The over all idea was to be serious about it. I feel like this picture captures the mood theme well.

    Tell me your thoughts please!

I think it is fantastic. Excellent light, color, and detail. the only thing I can pick on is that the background is distracting, It would have been more effective to chose a dark solid backdrop.

The broken background does detract, I would like it a lot better if the fence was the whole background.

Very cool effect. I agree that it would much better if the fence comprised the entire bg. Pretty easy fix.

...or a wider angle. it would be particularly ironic and hilarious if you were still holding the flashlight too (at least it looks like a flashlight)

    Re: Dirt face.

Looks awesome. Love the light. I agree about the fence in the bg continuing up to the top, but I do like the hint of green offered by the trees back there.
Its not too distracting but may be worth the quick edit that it would be to complete the fence to the top.

I'm drawn to the dark area around the neck just above the shirt. It looks more like post processing than a natural shadow.

The look into the camera and the light is great here.
    Nice work

Yeah that's a dirt splotch, thanks for the input was wondering if that should be nixed.

Thanks for all the help so far!

ps. The band is In Search of. I think they've changed their name already too. Kid's these days.

No, the splotch is fine. I'm referring to the dark circle around the base of the neck that follows above the shirts collar. This looks like a shadow that wraps around his neck, but it does not look like a natural shadow somehow.

    Re: Dirt face.

Given the dramatic lighting on your face, I have to agree that a much darker background would help.

Ohhhh, okay I see what you're saying now. Thanks for pointing that out, I'll try and see if I can make that look more natural.

I too like it. and I think people pretty much covered everything in this one. if I had to describe it in one word, it would be... cinemagraphic, if that's a word. lol. like a still from the show lost or something. anyways. good stuff
