First Festival

Hi,
I took this photo last year at Scotland's biggest outdoor music festival, T in the Park. It was an absolutely amazing weeked, the weather was unbelievable; I'd just got back from Turkey and it seemed hotter than that at some points! Anyway, this was just a flukey picture, arm up in the air, camera facing backwards, and I caught this; possibly his first festival and I hope he enjoyed it as much as I did. There's a bit of PS work; some burning, contrast and cropping, but does it work for you?

nice capture. i like the composition. all figures at the bottom are clearly defined. nice.

the only change that i would suggest is to crop-off some of the sky. seems to be a bit too much of it. this will put more focus on the bottom of the composition, where the story is.

Very cool picture, uumm from what i em taugh u dont frame the main point of view in ur picture, if that boy is to the left it would be a better picture, it seems a little emty to the left since that ride is on the right, but nice work

Yeah I thought that myself but considering the picture was a complete fluke I can't complain too much!

Seems like most of my best pics are flukes
I really like this picture and I don't think it needs to be cropped. I like the amount of sky, it gives the picture nice color and I'm a fan of having 'negative' space. That's just me.
The kid in the center works for me too. I know what the rule is, but rules are made to be broke and I think this is a good case.
I hope my flukes come out as good as this one. Cheers.

It wasnt ment to be a negative comment, its contructive, i said it, so next time u take pictures u look at stuff liek that and remeber, im not suppose to put the subject in the dead center, thats all

Hi there,

Not centering the "subject" is a general rule of thumb that oftenly lead to more eye pleasing results in several situations but this is by no means an obligation. You may not like to have the boy centered in this specific picture, this is your personal opininon but thinking that it can't be done is self narrowing your vision of things.

I must agree that the left side feel somewhat empty in this picture though.

It's just a nostalgic photo from my point of view. I don't think the balance is an issue because of the T in the Park skyline in the background, but I accept your points.

Too bad there isnt more ground and less sky
the ground would show that you are farther away from the scene.
and maybe even a presence of the horizon or something
