Will old AE1 lenses work with today's EOS digital series camera?

Nope.
The old lenses before auto focus are FD series lenses. They will not fit an EOS(autofocus) camera. The autofocus lenses are EF series. Any EF lens will fit any EOS body. EF-s lenses will only fit on an APS-C (1.6x crop) body.

actually that isn't entirely true. You can get an FD to EOS EF adapter so your lenses will physically fit, but they will be manual focus and I think you either loose control over aperture (they are wide open) or they stop down as you change the aperture which can mean the image looks quite dark in the viewfinder.
