    off to grandmothers house

old chair on the front porch of my grandma's house...it was an adventure to say the least. I am wondering about the crop. I took a bit off the bottom that was just bare concrete and a couple stones.

I like it. Has a nice feel, color and texture. I would have cropped that yellow object out though.

    Re: off to grandmothers house

I like the shot including the yellow bucket. The bucket adds a little color and without it would leave that corner a little bare. It seems like the column and the woodwork have a bit of green color cast on them. I also like the bike, stool, fence, plastic in the chair and grass stuff in the left corner. Having these things gives me a felling that you captured the moment and didn't set up the scene, Jeff

I like the pp treatment to even out shadows and highlight. Good work on this.

    Re: off to grandmothers house

l like the composition here though i find it cluttered. i wish there was only the chair. i wish the bike and some of the distractions weren't there. like the yellow bucket and that other chair in the bg. If i would advice you i'd say go minimal.

I love the leaning post in the bg. that, the chair and the area would've been sufficient for me. right now there are just too many things.

As for the post processing. I think it's a bit on the grey side. not colour wise but the tonality is all about the same tone. there isn't enough contrast maybe? i don't know. looks like it might be missing a pure white point.

edit: to check the tonal range just turn this to a b&w in photoshop and if all the colours blend in to the same grey then u know there isn't enough of a punch in the colour image as well. i hope that makes sense.

    Re: off to grandmothers house

    Thanks for the feedback.
Leels: the idea of this one isn't so much the chair, but the clutter of my old grandma's front porch (and whole house for that matter). I can see how the white point got lost, I think I pulled that very slider back quite a bit when doing the tone mapping. I'll confess that I was really going for that tonality that dray, and one other forum member have in their hdr's that I find to be incredible.

Yeah I think the basic shot is really nice. Background is a bit gray. The yellow thing on the lower right distracts a bit.
