Dragon fly from 8ft away

I took this with my Nikon D90 using a Nikon 70-300 VR lens from about 8ft away at full zoom. I though it did a pretty good job. I might add that this was taken hand held without a tri pod, Jeff

A long telephoto from a healthy distance is the way to do it IMO.

Thanks Mike and Loupey for your comments. I have had this lens for almost a year and was very disappointed with it until a couple of months ago when I had the bright idea to remove the filter that I got with it. I was amazed at the difference it made in the quality of the picture and now I am very happy with this lens. I had heard about taking off the filter for years but had never tried it but I am sure glad I did. I had decided to sell it on ebay but now it has a permanent home with me. It is amazing how something so little can make such a difference, Jeff
