I Took The Day Off For This?

Some of you may have noticed that I was not online today. There was a good reason. I think we had over two feet of snow in the mountains in the past 2 days. It had to be taken advantage of. So we headed out into the backcountry again.

These three photos were all taken with the Casio Exilim G1 point-and-shoot. It's waterproof and shockproof and perfect for this kind of activity. The photo of me with snow all over my face is not after a crash. The snow was so deep, that's what I looked like after my first run down an untouched powder shot

    The Good Stuff

A few of the powder stash we worked, taken with the Canon EOS-1D Mark IV.

Sooooo good. Today made up for what has otherwise been a pretty mediocre ski season. This was the best. Steep and deep.

Thanks John! Now I realize my life is so ***king dull! I spend the day in my couch and drawing some founding plans for work. How sad is that!

Great pics John. Love the action and the flying snow.

Thanks, Eric. Glad you enjoyed them. You don't get this kind of snow in the resorts, though. You've got to work for it. I've just started hiking for my turns and it's sooo worth it. It seems strange to say that I was out 4 or 5 hours for just two runs. But that's what we did. And no one has any complaints. I love a powder day in the resorts but it's not nearly rewarding as the complete experience you get in the backcountry.

Wow! This is what I came back to after about a week away in MA - and the temp here in NJ is almost 80F. Yikes!

Great shots, John! Glad you took the day off and had some fun. I enjoyed these very much - thanks for sharing.

Absolutely beautiful and fun! The portrait of you is fantastic!

Have you posted your Mark IV review? I've decided not to go there, but love to read all I can about it.
