    Spring in the graveyard

Was afraid recent rain and wind would have knocked all the blossoms down but they were still up.
    Might have ove rsharpened.

    ummm...does seem a "bit" over-sharpened...perhaps, the intent?

Isn't it a cool thing in nature that the colours never seem to clash...

    Re: Spring in the graveyard

Agree with the above comments Frog, it seems hard sharpened and over saturated.

I think it is a great location for grabbing some really nice shots, personally I think a different approach will look more artistic, maybe fewer graves in the scene with those nice blossoms will look great.

    Re: Spring in the graveyard

The colors and the scene are great. But as soon as I saw this photo I thought Emboss, not necessarily over sharpened. Did you Emboss this? although the highlight line along the tree trunks suggest sharpening. II bet uncompressed this look really good.

It's too sharpened IMHO. I would go with an Orton effect here.

    Re: Spring in the graveyard

I'm not sure what I did last night and probably shouldn't do any editing when I'm tired.
Whatever it was, I overdid it.
    This any better?

    Re: Spring in the graveyard

Yes! that it is much better Frog!

I learned that after I do some PP work I have to give it a second look next day...I look into things with a more focused eye and usually end up changing or "improving" a lot of aspects I did not see the day before.

    Re: Spring in the graveyard

The second one is very nice. Last night I was thinking about doing some creepy self-portraits in a graveyard.

    Re: Spring in the graveyard

Frog, this is much better but it seems a little dark to me. I am curious why you used center weighted metering on this shot, Jeff

    Re: Spring in the graveyard

I was thinking it might be a little dark, too, but lightening it up makes it too bright in the center...need to find the balance there.
Jeff, probably because I forgot that's what it was on and since that is what I use most often, didn't think about changing it. I need to pay more attention to details like that. Thank you for the reminder.

    Re: Spring in the graveyard

Frog, yes the first was way over sharpened and i have found that working late and tired on a photo is a no no. Once accidentally deleted all my work and realized when i woke up in the chair a hour later. . .
the second is great. Very nice composition, really nice. i like the framing of the graveyard within the trees.
It might be a bit dark, but reallonly the trees trunks it seems. You can try using the dodge brush set with a soft feathered edge and to midrange and sweep it all around the outer areas of the image leaving the center alone. might give you just the needed boost in places it needs
    good work, Frog

    Re: Spring in the graveyard

Thank you, Gary. Have never worked with dodging or burning but its about time to figure it out.

I'm surprised no one has suggested getting rid of the red warning triangle but it is pretty small.

    The second one is gooooood!

The tiny triangle is not a big deal

the dark trees trunks can be fixed with not much work

    Re: Spring in the graveyard

I kind of liked the oversharpened/embossed look... I dont know, it gave it a darker creepier graveyard feel. But I do like the second one as well, in a different way.
