    Boat sunset

On Saturday I was getting bored, and decided to go to a nearby Dam, decided to look for something interesting.
I liked the view of this small boat, chained to a tree, along a sunken boat with the sunset as background.

    Re: Boat sunset

Armando, this is a beautiful scene. I like what you got here, but i think isolating the little boat would work even better. If you can get there again to see the same scene at this time, I would try pushing the boat out a bit away from the shoreline and get a shot kneeling a bit lower just isolating the boat, with the mountains and trees in the distance.
Somehow, the tree on the left is hurting this for me.
I think you can work with this photo, though. I would suggest cropping out the tree and making a square format shot from this photo and bring out a bit more detail in the shadows. . .less contrast.
Wonderful scene, and very nice photo.

Really nice, Armando. The only thing I've noticed that bothers me is that the horizon appears to be angled slightly. Gorgeous light.

    Thanks for the comments

Here is a square crop , with a bit more light in the foreground, and tried to align the horizon.

About horizon alignment, I used the near line of trees/birds, the far shore is curved and that's why it seems to go down to the left.

I'm surprised is not more tilted , my wife was hurrying me a she realized I was standing on the path of thousands of ants, good thing they were small black ones, a few started climbing my leg, they only tickled a bit and were easily brushed away.

What gahspidy said. This is absolutely beautiful, but the tree and stuff at the bottom of the frame is somewhat distracting.

For DCI I find it exceptional. It appears pp was not needed. No?

I like the tree in better than out, I think it adds something to the photo. I would like to see a version from a slightly lower point of view though, but it's a great shot!!

    Amateur, Thanks,
What do you mean by DCI ?

the image has some PP, to increase contrast and warmer colors , resize and resharpen for web, the second version had some more light added near the boat.

    Thanks Paula!

My intention was to photograph the boat, and the sunken boat right beside it. With a very nice background and reflections in the water as background. If frog reads this, he is going to say that the log should be included completely in the frame.

Now that I look at the photo I think I would have liked to include more of the log, probably make it more more prominent along with the chain by using an external flash, and also a lower point of view.

I'm sure I'll go back to that area sometime in the future for a reshoot.

Thanks for your comment, a lower point of view would get the cane somewhat in the way, I did think about it, and now that I see the photo for a long time, maybe I can move the cane so it lifts to the back of the boat, not in front.

The tree was in the frame mostly by accident, I wanted the boat and the sunset, a portrait format may have left the tree out, but I do not like vertical formats.

Here is a farther away view, also this is what initially called my attention as both trees formed an arch.

I like the more distant one more. The design of the trees is spectacular.

    Re: Boat sunset

Armando, that is very nice, I like a lot the composition and lighting...overall the mood is very nice.

I like the first one, but I like what you did with the colors on the second one.
Nit pik...the angle of the shot...I think it would look better if you have taken this shot from a lower point of view to give the boat a more "horizontal" base.
    Great scene.

    Re: Boat sunset

I think the original is great - my only criticism would be that there is some trash (a blue plastic bottle) on the shoreline which if i look very closely is a bit distracting...
