the shadow left foreground looks too dark

I like the scene, but like PAul said, the shadows in the lower left seem too dark. Some of the clouds seem too bright too. My eye keeps jumping back and forth from the dark shadow to the bright clouds. Overall I think the composition is nice, but I find the things I already mentioned take away from the image.

The lower left shadow is the first thing that I saw a problem with.
Post a big image in your gallery and we'll be able to tell better.

The second one looks better.

The second shot looks better, but it also looks a bit too warm and lacks contrast (the one thing I like much better in the first shot). Perhaps a slight boost to the contrast and a small white balance correction is all it needs.
