    My first prints!!!

I spent a few hours in the darkroom today and here are a few of my first prints. I know they aren't anything special but I thought I would share with everyone. Feel free to comment on them. Thanks to everyone who gave me advice about taking some panning shots, it really helped out a lot and I'm pretty happy with the results of this one. Sorry about the poor quality of the scan.

    Thanks for looking.

I couldn't agree more. There realy isn't anything in any of these pictures that stands out to me, but I'm pretty excited to actually get to see somthing bigger than what's on my contact sheets. Once I get my own darkroom up and running I will be able to experiment more on my own and not just print stuff so I have something to hand in for my class assignments. For these I only used a 1 1/2 filter I think and I didn't do much experimenting with exposure times.

are they teaching you to do a stepwedge?

( if my memory serves me correct, that is what its called...)
but just in case: it's a small piece of paper, say inch wide and 5 or more inches long... where you cover the whole sheet except for an inch at a time, then you expose it for 5 seconds then go on down the line, exposing small sections at a time, so if you do this 4 times your first exposure ends up being 20 seconds... ( #'s are just an example)

Yes, that is what we have been doing to determine our exposure for making our contact sheets and our enlargments, only we call it a test strip.
