Middle Fork of the American River.

I have been playing around and re-shooting these, its my backyard river. This is the best I could come up with. What do you think?....

I like both of these, though I think the second shot is the stronger image. You did a good job with shutter speed, keeping it slow enough to convey a sense of motion without losing the detail in the slower moving parts of the creek. Color is quite vibrant and inviting without overdoing it as well.

I like both of these but I prefer the first one more due to having the rocks in the lower frame giving it more depth. The second shot has that big rock in the center as the main focal point that draws my attention away from the water and nothing of interest in the lower frame which to me makes the first one a more interesting shot. In the first shot I am looking more at the water framed by the rocks. Having the rocks in the lower frame give the first one a more interesting look to me. I also like the way the water starts in the rear of the picture and flows through the shot and exits in the lower right hand side of the frame. In the second shot the water is just there with a big rock in the middle, Jeff

Can't add anything. I do prefer the first but not sure why as the second does have more drama but the first is more appealing to my eye. I do like the shutter speed effect, too, and how it kept the water motion but not making it real soft.

Thanks for the comments and critiques. Grandpaw I hear what you are saying about the rock being the focal point. It draws my eay towards the rock rather than the water. I'm going to take some more shots at a different angle and see how it works out.
