    coconut

This was a grab shot on the way through the underbrush to another subject. Someone had hung it on a tree branch. Worth holding on to?

I think it works. love the sad face on the coconut, I think it has a good contrast of happiness and sadness. the background being the happy part and the poor cocunut looks depressed. the bokeh and the sharpness/detail of the coconut bring this out. well done and good eye for seeing the potential of this and nailing it.

Very unusual .. Mr Bill or something. Good eye. I think it's a keeper for your portfolio under the "artsy" category.

    Re: coconut

i find the high contrast of the background a bit distracting... perhaps it would have worked better with a wider aperture, higher shutterspeed to soften the BG even further? I like the expression on the coconut shell ;) well spotted!

    Re: coconut

    Danimation,
I could probably blur the background even further in PP but as it was this was shot w/ my Tamron telephoto, wide open with the macro switch engaged so I doubt I could have gotten a narrower DoF even if I'd have switched up to the 50mm 1.4. Perhaps tinting the lighter areas more green would do the trick.

Thanks to everyone else for their comments as well. I liked the shot but was unsure if it had any widespread appeal.

    Snoid,
What a great take on this! Hadn't even thought of "tropical halloween" but this might make a great theme/project!
