    Grey Fox :)

Well, my Smokies trip got cut short (not before a ton of great photos were taken, thankfully). My grandma in Arkansas was ill so my mom and I broke camp and drove the 10 hours down to be with her. Thankfully there was no shortage of opportunities to use my rented L 300 f/4.

I was bird hunting (be prepared for me to post a bunch on the ID thread soon ) when a blur darted across the road into the common land adjacent to my grandmother's property. Went over to investigate and found this critter in the weeds.

Two more... tried to narrow it down to my five favorites and couldn't.

    Re: Grey Fox :)

    Thanks guys .

When I initially walked over, I didn't see anything, I was going to go back when I spotted a dragonfly on one of the weeds that I stopped to shoot, and then out of the corner of my eye, I saw the fox watching me.

I was really glad to have the 300. I'm going to cry when I send it back on Wednesday. It's really an awesome lens.

The second post shots are 'different' shots in that I took a burst of about five shots, so each was a different capture, but under identical settings less than a second apart . LOL, so yep, essentially the same image. Different PP (warmed the second one a bit) and went for a tighter crop on the first.

CaraRose, great images, thanks for posting...I have never seen one of these - don't live in my neighbourhood. Out of curiosity, I googled them and discovered that they have an uncanny ability to climb trees and jump from branch to branch...interesting.

    Cheers,

Beautiful fox. How lucky to catch it standing still like that. I see them here -- saw one last night -- but they are always so quick to run and hide.
