To me having the focus point where it is stops my eye from wanting to go down the stairs. I wonder what this same shot would look like with the focus on the cone, Jeff

My thoughts the same as Jeff's.
It is an interesting composition.
Maybe if you can change the focal point or get a lot more dof.
I'd also try to get rid of whatever is next to the cone.
If I was shooting this I think I'd try something f'/16 or smaller and make my focus point the bottom of the stairs or the cone. You have a static subject so you can try various f/stops and focus points.
Honestly, I think I'd like this better without the cone, as odd as that might sound, and for sure that black and yellow thing has got to go. I'm a BIG fan of color, but color for the sake of color isn't enough, it has to add something to the shot that wouldn't be there without the color.
