    Home town panoramic

I know these are difficult due to size restrictions, but I've been trying to get this shot for a while now, and there are really only three spots, all atop interstate bridges where you can get high enough to catch the whole city. The white poles sticking up from the bottom are sailboat masts from vessels tied up along the various rivers and canals that wind through the city.

Looks like your white balance is off. On my monitor it has a bluish cast on the picture, Jeff

    Re: Home town panoramic

I think a panoramic just needs to be thought of as any other picture just in a wider format.

Then the question becomes is this an interesting picture to the intended viewer?

For this one I'd have to say no as there is no foreground interest at all and nothing to draw the viewers eye into the image-it seems very flat.
    No, I DON'T need that.

Other than the blue colour cast and that it seems to look like late evening the tree line could be halved and a fraction off the top to balance the photo a bit better.

    Jet,

My first impression is, way too blue, and not enough detail or good lighting to make it stand out above the crowd. I see what you were trying to do though: the skyline isn't all that bad, it just needs some warm sunset or even sunrise light, more detail, and maybe something up there in the sky. Might want to look into the white balancing too.

    Re: Home town panoramic

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. White balance was set to Florescent in Raw processing because it seemed to balance the lighting better. The shot was REALLY flat in it's original state and the lighting really yellow. As far as foreground to draw you in, there is none, from any attainable angle - three pixels below the bottom of this shot is a set of rather unphotogenic warehouses. I'll probably follow GB's advice - wait for a more interesting sky and give it one last shot, before scrapping the idea altogether. Thanks again, all.
