    Mountain biking shots

at the urging of Photo John I am posting a few mountain biking pictures here.

not a professional by any definition of the word just like to document my rides and my camera is a barely functional point and shoot canon S230 (CF media!) that has lost its movie capacity and suffered an amazing crash mounted to my handlebars with dents to the casing and lost screws but still works. Anyway:

sometimes my camera gets a little steamed up as I hold it in my mouth through some technical sections when i get caught off guard

    Thanks!

There's some good stuff in there. And that last one - the collage thing - that flat out rules. Love it! This week's Featured Photo is already chosen and I'm not usually the one who picks them. He's stuck in the snow without a computer today

But last week we had a conversation about the overwhelming number of ball and stick photos on this forum. I'm not against football, basketball and baseball. But I want this forum to have some variety. I'm always pleased when there's something different and surprising on here.

So thanks for the contribution. And please stick around and keep sharing. The more photographers we have on this forum who share their work and experience, the more useful it will be to all of us.

    Oh yeah...

Solid first post. Really exemplary. You've got some variety and a real winner in there. Plus, you shot them all with an old point-and-shoot? Thumbs-up and welcome to the site

That first shot is really arty. I think it would look better in black and white, with a bunch of contrast. The movement of the tire, with the gradual movement/blurring on the ground is cool. It's not straight, but that kind of goes with riding mtb... shows a roughness or instability. That looks like a fun section!

    Nice panning on the second.

    Re: Mountain biking shots

thanks. I occasionally use a Slik clamp head mounted to various location on my bike. Set the camera for timed shot and press it before heading into things. It sometimes gets great results other times not so much.

I would love the option of getting a newer point and shoot but the wife says no more toys so unless i can break this one I ain't getting anything new and so far it is seemingly indestructible with dents and dings all over it.

The hardest part for me is remembering to take pictures on rides. I have a wingnut bag with hip pockets where I keep the camera and that lets me take pictures when I remember to grab it and on the fly.

sometimes they work sometimes they don't. Recent shot from the 24hr in the old pueblo mountain bike race

Looks good, especially the last collage. A P&S being used as well makes them a little cooler. We're all used to shooting with big cameras & lenses.

Congratulations on getting Featured Photo for this week! Your photo would have been my choice, too. It's very different for this forum and I'm pleased you posted it and smartwombat chose it. We need to encourage and reward creativity on this forum.
