    You can GIMP it out... or PhotoShop it out! I do think cloning might work well. Also add some UnSharp Mask.

    I like the placement of the heron in the 1st one better - but the branch is a problem.

    Personally, I don't use the clone tool (except fot dust spot removal) and some images just aren't meant to be.
