    Re: Warmer days

I played around with hummingbirds near my feeder last summer, so I fully appreciate the quality of this shot. Capturing them in flight is difficult, and I've never been able to get enough light, or high enough shutter speed, to stop their wings.
    Very good shot.

Not shot. I see this one is at a shutter speed= 1/640 sec. What speed do you need to stop a hummer's wings? - TF

I have stopped the hummer,s wings with a shutter speed between 1/1000 and 1/1200 sec.
But you need real good light.

I personally like it better when the wings have some blur, Jeff

    Re: Warmer days

ANY shot of a hummingbird that's even close to the quality of this is a good shot - but this one is excellent. You didn't freeze the wings but that is totally OK - what's important is that you got the birdie's eyes sharp. The colors are exceptional (like an oil painting) and the composition works for me. Well done.
