Some little ones foraging in the winter

It also seems to me that in the winter time with snow on the ground and everywhere, you may be able to get closer to the birds easier. Guess it's more important to fill up their stomachs when food is already hard to find than staying away from predators like some idiot with a camera stupid enough to stay outside on a winter day with a temperature as low as minus 8 C

Nice captures of a fox sparrow and a male oregon junco!

I love #1, the “imaginary line” created by the bird staring intently at something on the ground keeps my eye traveling back-and-forth. Very good crispness and focus on all.

    - 8 C here too...

Very nice. That little sparrow sure is puffed up.

"...the “imaginary line” created by the bird staring intently at something on the ground..." I hadn't realized that I was doing this. I do keep looking to see what he is looking at.

Manual exposure mode, off the snow plus two stops. Opened up the shadow very slightly during pp.

Very nice and yes that first shot does keep your eye moving back and forth to see what he's doing.

I love the the way the birds stand out from the snow. Very nice shots.
