    Low but not slow

From Goodwood revival again, have I improved since last year?

I think the Battle of Britain Memorial flight is better just because of the light.
But using the 300 f/2.8 and 1.4x instead of the 100-400 helps I think.

Nice shots! I have never seen old-time fighters/bombers up close.

They are all great photos, I particularly like #7 because of the two fighters/bomber and tilted angle.

    Re: Low but not slow

    Nice shots and nice memories
I met my wife in London and our first "date" was R.I.A.T. (RAF Fairford) in 2002. I have a bunch of film shots similar to these - I think I shot 12 rolls that day.

Very suprised to see a Yak in your four-ship formation shot, and your spitfire shots are absolutely stunning!

    Yak?
Take a look at the first photo, that doesn't look like a Yak to me.
    I'd say it's a Curtiss P40B.
Two nose guns means it's before P40D, and two guns in each wing is P40B (or P40C with underbelly tank/bomb shackles).

I read that some P40s were sent to Russia, did that influence the design of the Yak ?

    Re: Low but not slow

Ooops, my mistake! It's an older bird than the P-40, though you are correct about the P-40s being shipped east (along w/ P-39s and Spitfires)
From the angles, it looks suprisingly like a Yak-7

    Re: Low but not slow

I just nicked my wife's programme for the event
    Says it's a P40B
    Also there:
    Curtiss 75 hawk
    Spitfire Mk IX
    Spitfire Mk XIX
    FG1D Corsair
    P51D

Didn't look like a 75 hawk, that was radial engined wasn't it?
Yeah, just googled it, the Mohawk - thought I remembered it.
I used to build a lot of Airfix kits when I was younger
