Talking Happy Father's Day to all the Dads, Grandads

There are so many wonderful fathers, grandfathers - maybe even great grandfathers on this forum that I wanted to acknowledge them - and wish each and every one a most happy Father's Day.

Maybe some of you could post some pics of you and your children/grandchildren - that would be great! Or of any Dad's celebrating today with their kids.

My own father passed on years ago, but I do remember him in a special way today.

I don't have any photos of my friends and their children. I'll be out for a while this afternoon, so maybe I'll catch a few dads out with their kids.

    Enjoy your day!

Thanks, Liz. Due to the miles and gas prices, I don't expect my kids to come and see me on Father's Day. However, I do hope they call me today. My youngest daughter did send me a pair of camouflaged cargo pants. My old ones seemed to be shrinking. :blush2: She asked me what I wanted, so I emailed her the link and presto. Not only that, I bought myself a car today, off Ebay. I've been searching for 9 weeks for a 2004 Saturn Vue 6 cyl. with FWD, and finally found one on Ebay.

Sorry to get off the subject. But yeah, it would be nice to see some Father's Day shots.

Wow! I knew you could buy just about anything on Ebay. However, you are the first person that I've "met" that actually bought a car! That's awesome! When you get it, be sure to post a picture!

Enjoy the rest of your day - and congratulations on your new car.

It will probably be at least a week or more, before I can take ownership. Unfortunately, it's in Cedar Rapids, IA at the time. If you've kept up on the news, you'll know that 100 blocks of the city were underwater. Some cars were in so deep that only their antennas were visible. It's a mess down there. I did talk to the dealership before I bid on the car. He assured me that the car was indoors, just to be safe. I'm going to be pretty anxious for awhile. As part of the deal, he'll deliver within 250 miles, so I set a location 245 miles from him and 120 from me. It's just a matter of when he or someone else can get away, due to the necessary clean up down there, when the flooding is all over.

    Mike,

It might be worth your while to check out carfax - they are good. My friend checked a used car out there before she purchased it. One of the things they seem to find out is if a car has been in/under water - at least this is what the ad says. If you do check it out, I would be sure to tell them where the car was at the time of the flood.

One other thing. Is there a "return policy" at Costco? Because I believe car repair places and dealers know when a car has been under water when they do a check.

Thanks for the heads up. However, I checked the map regarding the affected area and then located the address of this dealership. They are located about 3 miles south of where the river flows thru downtown and if 100 blocks were under water, they would be about 2 miles south of the edge of the flooding. He tells me over the phone, that even though they were dry, most of the roads were closed leading to their dealership but the waters were receding. It was nice that I was able to talk to him personally. Besides, he only has $500 of mine at this time, and being paid thru PayPal via credit card, I do have some recourse if the car isn't as stated. Plus, this dealership has a 100% positive feedback. It's a dealership that specializes in luxury cars and some veterinarian traded this in on a new pickup. I got it for $3000 below Kelly Blue Book price.

I'm very cautious and just never dreamed I would ever buy a vehicle this way. If it wasn't a dealership with a legit website, phone # and address I was able to confirm, I wouldn't have risked it. It also has a clear title.

Both daughters just called, so now it's a complete Father's Day.

    You sure got that right.

BTW, here is a link to my Ebay SUV. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...234284266&rd=1

However, I did negotiate a better deal over the phone, for a few hundred dollars less.

This is a very clean nice looking car. The description sounds like it is in excellent condition. My Toyota is a 2005 and has almost 65,000 miles - your's only has 59,000 and is a year older.

    I'm happy for you!

"Due to the miles and gas prices ..." - Shutterbug.

That is terrible, but you have to be joking. Here in Australia we pay almost double what the drivers in the US pay for regular unleaded fuel and I use 96 Octane. I'm currently paying for 1 US gal which is 3.785 litres going on today's exchange rate $7.25US a gal. I'm lucky not to be living in Europe or the UK. Today is Monday in Australia. I fill up on Mondays, on Mondays fuel is affordable, on Fridays and weekends here, prices goe through the roof..

When the prices your kids pay for fuel Shutterbug, actually match what the rest of the first world pay for fuel ... I don't think you will ever see your kids again, if you think that $4.20 or what ever the the actual price is now over there for regular unleaded is high, ... it will be a very very sad time Shutterbug.

Happy Father's Day to all the deserted Dads. I hope your kids at least found the time to call you.

    Warren.

    Liz,

Thanks for the reminder but m daughter got there first. She was away at the Isle Of Wight Rock Festival yesterday so she gave me the card on Friday and called yesterday.

I'm a very lucky dad and happy chappy.

Liz thanks for the Father's Day thought. My dad has been gone since 1979 and is still very much missed. Two of my children were home this weekend and celebrated Father's Day with me the other two called early in the day to pass along their greetings. We had a wonderful day and did get a few pictures of course. Here is one that Joy took of me and my son David and his son Wesley on Father's Day.

    Hi Liz,

Father day was great. My little girl is now walking and running. She is such great fun.

She took me out to lunch with my wife.

I've added some photos of her.

    Cheers,
    Loren
