Some great shots in there for sure. Great to have another MX fan on the board; I went to the Loretta Lynn's GNCC quite a few years ago. I've ridden a couple local harescrambles myself... wow are they difficult. Much, much more physical than an MX race.

I rode one season of club racing when I turned 40. It damn near killed me. Now I just shoot pictures of the youngins. MUCH more enjoyable.

I wish we had more road racing down here but I guess the weather is not good enough for the promoters to take the chance.

Road racing? There is that little event down there called the Daytona 200 AMA Superbike race... and I think MotoST has an event or two there. There are a fair number of good road courses in Florida; you just have to drive a lot more to do the road stuff than the offroad.

Haha, I understand about the riding. My dad was in his mid-40s when he rode with my brother and I several years ago. Just going around the track was about all he could take.

I love that last photo! I wonder why he took his goggles off - they don't look muddy? Nonetheless the determination and concentration on his face is excellent. Congrats on the feature - well done!

I will give you the one in Feb as a big draw but getting a chance to shoot pics there is nye on impossible at my current level of connections. We lost the second supercross to ANOTHER ANAHIEM race. I can shoot a good bit of club racing and I am looking into that. But we have Sebring down here and that needs to be a Superbike venue!!!! Or in my wildest dreams a Moto GP either there in Sebring or in Daytona.

LOL, a Sebring Superbike race? I can envision the interview now - "Here we are with Mat Mladin. Mat, we understand Suzuki has actually fitted motocross forks and shocks to deal with the infamous surface here at Sebring; how's that working out for you?" Mat- "Well we're still dialing in the high speed compression in the shocks; we're still bouncing a bit in the whoops down the back straight..."

Seriously though, Sebring is an absolutely incredible track. The 12hrs is easily my favorite ALMS race of the year. The roughness is part of the character of that track - it just beats those cars to death. But obviously that aspect, and more importantly the very tight walls around the whole track, are prohibitive of any major bike race ever coming there.

MotoGP would never go to Daytona b/c of the walls. Heck Indy had to redesign and reverse their course to bring them there. And now that Daytona owns AMA Superbike, I doubt they're too keen to put it in the back seat to something else. Even Barber, which is easily one of the nicest, best facilities in the country, couldn't land a MotoGP event. They're very picky and they require lots of money.

You're right about the SX. Seems like 1/3 of the season is in California now. And the Motocross season doesn't come within 1,000 miles of you, even though most of the pros live in Florida! But Barber is working on that - they just announced they're going to build "the world's best motocross track." I'm sure they'll have a National there in short order. It'd still be a trip for you, but at least Birmingham's a lot closer than Maryland, Michigan, or Texas.
