    Speed Update

I finally got a Media Machine!!!

    It's a m8100n. I am a very happy man!

3 gigs of RAM, 500 gig hard drive. Of course, I had to upgrade to Photoshop Elements 5.0 as well. (I've been using Elements 2.0 for years.) I also got a 19" LCD monitor to go with it.

    Life is GOOD!!!

Wow - that's a lot of stuff going on! Did you forget to mention winning the lottery?

I recently bought a MacBook Pro to replace my ailing (or would that be ale-ing - no, wait, that's me!) Dell. Haven't broken down and bought Photoshop for the Mac yet and the trade-in deal for switching formats doesn't apply in my case. I really like the Mac, but switching is a bit of a hassle... For some reason they only have Elements 4 for Mac, maybe they'll release 6 for both platforms. Might wait until then - unless you want to share some of your winnings...

Woo hoo, life is good on the East coast. Those are some awesome specs.

Out of curiousity, did you consider Adobe Lightroom over Elements?

    I wish. Then I'd have a D2X, a 400mm f2.8, you get the idea...

We were planning on paying for Dawn's bike the first of the year, but we came into a little money, so I got my computer and Dawn got her bike. If I had any winnings to share, I would.

Everyone I know of who has a Mac, loves the computer, and complains about getting software for it. (I used to have an Apple II GS. Great computer for it's time, but limited in what was available for it.) Which is why I stayed with a PC.

    Thanks for the comments buddy.

Yes they are. Especially considering that the computer I had been looking at had a 1 gig RAM and 250 gig HD. I found it at Staples, and it was lust at first sight. A couple of weeks later, I found out I was going to get a check, and the rest is history.

"Out of curiousity, did you consider Adobe Lightroom over Elements?"

I thought about using another program, and while I've heard/read about Lightroom, I don't have any experience with it or personally know anyone who uses it. I know a pro who uses Adobe Bridge as his RAW converter/post processing program, but he also has Photoshop 7 and Photoshop CS on his computer as well.

I was familiar with Elements, and knowing that Photoshop constantly makes upgrades, I knew Elements 5.0 would be a nice upgrade over 2.0. So far I love the upgrades, and I've barely gotten into it. While I don't care too much for working on the computer (I'd much rather be shooting) I see me spending more "quality time" with my computer.
