    A Day On The Water

After working 9 of the past 10 days, the wife got a day off last Thursday. So we put the boat overboard and went out. Here are a few shots from that outing.

Re: A Day On The Water

I've been trying to get a day under the water, but mother nature has messed with the last 9 dives I've tried to go on. It always wips up to 20-25 kts and 5-7 footers when I have a trip on. On top of that, I;ll be cleaning and running my 21 ft center con. this weekend just so I can sell it. boy is that gonna hurt. Nice shots Speed, I'm jealous. Do you and Dawn SCUBA, if so, you should come down and go out with the kids and I some time. My daughter helps me teach SCUBA during the summer to make a few extra pesos to augment my teacher salary.

    Hey Michael,

Actually, I do scuba dive. Dawn wants to get into it, so I need to get her signed up for the course.

I hate going on a scuba trip, and having the weather mess you up. It's a pain trying to get onto the ladder with 3 foot swells - I can't imagine 5-7 footers.

On the other hand, if you and yours get up this way, we have a 19 foot Carolina skiff. We'd be happy to take you to Shackleford and Cape Lookout. And if you bring your scuba gear (or want to rent some locally) we can get in a dive or two.

    Thanks for the comments buddy!

I couldn't agree more. Dawn loves to fish. But we didn't care if the fish were biting or not. We just enjoyed having a day off and being on the water.

You have a point Greg. Didn't have to clean any fish at the end of the day!

But we had a good time being on the water. Plus, since I didn't have to mess with fish, I had lots of time to take photo's!

I could use a day on the water but not sure that I could get Joy to join me. She is not really a water girl. Nice to see Dawn, looks like she really enjoyed the day off.
Don't forget about the Gallery. Are your photos there??

    Looks fun!

We are going to rent canoes this summer and take the girls down whatever river it is we have here. I want to say the Wolf River, but I'm not sure. I know the trip is a couple hours down, then they bus you back to your car. We could even take the dog.
    I sleep, but I don't rest.

Come on down to NC and we'll take you out. We just won't give her a choice. Of course, we'll pick a nice day to go out.

It is! The canoe trip sounds like a blast. We did a lot of canoeing when in college. We used to canoe down the Tar River and camp out for the weekend.

Being bused back reminds me of tubing down the river in Arizona. That was a good time as well.

When you go, be sure to take a camera...

Re: A Day On The Water

    I prefer catching to fishing

You know. Fish THIS BIG etc.

55lb halibut and 75lb halibut on one line (2 hooks on the leader) pulled in by me when I was about 10 years old. Ahh, Alaska...good times...good times.

But I do admit it's nice to just be out on the water, great photo ops out there, as can be seen by your shots Speed, looks like you had a good time.

Yep. There's a reason it's called fishing instead of catching. Just like it's called hunting instead of shooting. You get the idea. But when the idea is to fish, then I'm with you - I prefer catching. This was a down day for us, and neither of us cared if we caught anything or not.

I had an Air Farce buddy that did a tour in Alaska. He loved the fishing up there. He took his dad fishing and his dad caught an 80 pound halibut.

There were plenty of photo ops, as evidenced by my taking 380 photo's. If I get the time, I'll post a few more in the next few days.

Re: A Day On The Water

Oh cmon chaps have a heart.

I'm sitting here reading this and its snowing and cold and miserable in the UK. Last week spring was here so I organised to service the engine on Can Y Mor. I went down to service the engine and clean here on Tuesday and it was bitterly cold 35knots of wind. The chap came and serviced the engine and I went home without cleaning. What a day off :mad2:

As for fishing, we never catch anything off the back of the boat probably cause were always travelling somewhere and when coming into an anchorage were almost always on the beach so too shallow for the fish. (Swing keel, so we dry out on the beach).

Lovelly photo's but please have a heart.

Sorry to do this to you.

I guess I shouldn't tell you it's 70 degrees here, with an expected high of 74 today, 78 tomorrow, and 81 on Saturday.

Cheer up though, summer is coming!
