    On the Rails Again...

With all due respect to Willie Nelson I'm on the rails again. To explain let me say that I have always been fascinated with railroads. And this weekend I was back at photographing a small spur track near my home. The rails themselves are really good subjects but throw in a few railroad cars and you got the potential for some nice image. I have chosen to present all mine in black and white (just because that's the way I like my rails). Feel free to post your railroad pictures in this thread and you can even use color if you like. Hope to see several rail road photos.

The B&W works very well for these pics Larry. Here's one of my few RR pics.

I'm afraid that I can safely say that, of the thousands of photos in my collection, I don't have a single railroad photo. Good shots, though. :-)

Had to dig for one. I guess this fits the bill. Not the best. Shot with a Sony Point and Shoot while riding up to Virginia City, NV.

That's hard to believe Charles. I would have thought that in your archives you would have about everything. I was kind of hoping you had one of your beautiful models hanging off the back of a box car. At the very least a real hobo sitting beside the tracks heating a can of soup.

    Re: On the Rails Again...

This is the only train shot I have. Even though I love them. This one is one of the first pictures I took when I got serious about my photography. And one of my first PR post.

OPPS, I did have another one.I think the 75 means 75 miles to the Nothern boarder of Georgia. The sign also appears hand made, if you look close...

    Re: On the Rails Again...

You have no idea how hard it was to find this photo, it was hidden in a folder deep in a drive that isn't in use anymore. Just a snapshot, but it is indeed a boxcar.

    On the Rails Again...in Georgetown

Taken on our trip in DC last December...

Some quick processing to make it just a lil more appealing than the original photo...

    Excuse the unorthodox cropping.....

OK then I'll post again. I'll even put one up in color. It's titled Good to GO. I had to use color for it. And since I like to do close-up another called Maintenance Free.

Nice stuff, Old Timer. I've shot models in a lot of places, but not on a train, unfortunately.

    Nice shots OT.

When I saw the second shot, my first thought was, "He needed to get lower for this one." Then I saw the third one, where, low and behold, you got lower!

    :-D

I don't think I have any railroad shots, but I'll try to rectify that in the near future!

Thanks for taking a look and commenting on these Speed. I have to admit that getting lower is a lot harder today than it use to be. This extra weight that I'm packing can effect what you can comfortably do. You are right though the lower angle on the tracks can improve some railroad images.

    Re: On the Rails Again...

Here is a couple from me. The first one is a small gauge railroad thats in a county park in Los Gatos, Ca

The second is a train we were chasing while driving back from Utah in the Sierras. I had just enough time to get the camera out and start shooting as he came around the corner.

    Great title!

All I've found are a couple shots of trains, not really about the rails themselves. Nice work everyone!
