    Talking Just saying Hi !

I recentley joined this great site and just wanted to say Hi to all !

My camera experience dates back to the early '50s, when I purchased my first camera,
a Kodak Brownie Hawkeye, complete with flash unit - I still have that camera !
Through the years I gradually moved from a fixed lens Vivitar 35mm to a Canon AE-1P, with a standard 50mm FD lens, and two Vivitar Series 1 lens, a motor drive, a large and table top tripod, a huge Vivitar 5600 Flash unit, with two smaller Vivitar 125 slave units, various lens filters, remote shutter cables, a complete set of spare rechargeable AA batteries with a charger, and numerous other 'goodies in a large heavy black camera bag, that followed me just about everywhere.
Then 2 years ago I joined the new millenium and purchased my first digital image maker. Now that large heavy black camera bag just gathers dust, tucked away in my closet.
I started with a simple HP 735 camera and 5 HP cameras later, I'm using the HP R967.
I know there are some great digital SLR's out there and they just keep getting better !
The point and shoot HP R967 satisfies most of my creative digital requirements for now, but I also know it's just a matter of time and budget, till a digital SLR follows me home !

Apologies for my rather long winded intro.

Welcome to the site! No apology for the length of your intro is necessary. The more we know about you the better

I moved your post to the ViewFinder forum as it's more of our general coffee house sort of forum. The digital cameras forum is more technical. You'll get more attention here.

I saw your review for the HP R927 when you posted it. Thanks for that. It's good to have some user reviews to go along with our pro review for that camera. And we don't get nearly enough HP digital camera reviews. If you know other HP owners, please encourage them to come here and post reviews. We always need more reviews - they're the foundation of PhotographyREVIEW.com.

    Glad to have you!

Thank you PJ, for taking the time to reply, and for relocating my intro post !
I personaly don't think that HP receives the credit they deserve for thier Photosmart series digital cameras, and welcome the opportunity to share my experiences through this forum.
I plan to post a user review on the new HP R967 once I have had a chance to give it a good
workout - it is very similar to the HP R927, with a few added features !

Hi Rivman and welcome to the PR family. My experience in photography is very similar to yours. I started with a little box camera as a Christmas present when I was in the fifth grade back in the last 50's. I progressed through a series of 35mm and entered the digital age in April of 04 and haven't shot a roll of film since. I hope you will share some of your images with us. If you have been lurking here for a while you'll know we are a pretty friendly bunch and welcome newcomers and their image. Good to have you aboard.
Don't forget about the Gallery. Are your photos there??

    Re: Just saying Hi !

    Thanks OT -
Actually I just stumbled across the PR site accidently, while surfing the net.
Computers, like digital photography is a relatively new found venue - two years ago I couldn't even turn one on.
Guess the old addage 'your never to old to learn' must have some merit.
Any tips on posting/sharing images, or do you just jump in ?
    Appreciate the welcome !

    Re: Just saying Hi !

By all means just jump in. Viewfinder is kind of the living room of the site post personal photos and general discussion type things here. If you want a critique try the critique forum you will get a lot more responses there. The specialty forms like sports and nature are great with plenty of helpful people there and don't forget that your images will automatically post to the gallery where they may be commented on too. Have fun and become a part of the community.
