    Meet Gingerbread

I went this morning to check things out, to make sure we would be getting a dog that was raised in a humane enviroment. We looked into the beagle rescue program ( www.brewbeagels.org ) and were going to go with that, but couldn't find a dog to fit our needs. Checked our local humane society, and they tried to sell me a dog that stands as high as my waist. I got the impression from them that they don't get a lot of puppies, and we didn't want to bring a full grown dog into our house the the girls being so young. Better safe than sorry on that part. So I stopped at a local dog boarding/training/grooming facility, and talked to them, and the recommended this breeder. By yesterday, we had lost hope of getting one in time for Christmas, and were going to hope for sometime in the spring. So I get in the car to go to the mall, and my cell rings. The guy the groomers recommended has a litter ready to go home December 21st. Stopped today to check him out, make sure everything was on the up and up.

The name, Gingerbread, comes from the stuffed dog the girls have. The stuffed dog is on a leash, with a collar, and my youngest takes it all over the house, and they refer to it as Gingerbread. And we all need to refer to it as Gingerbread. So now we'll have two Gingerbreads, hopefully there won't be too much confusion.

Nope. One will poop all over the place. That should make him stand out...

    Adorable pooch. Congrats...

They don't know yet. And won't, until Christmas eve, when we bring it home.

I'm so excited though, I can't hardly stand it. We just have to finish up some work on the house quick, so she doesn't eat anything she's not supposed to.

When kids are involved you are better off going with a reputable breeder... rescue dogs are great to get and care for but most of them have been mistreated and can act out towards kids ... alot of shelters won't give rescue dogs to a family with small children ...

and with going to a reputable breeder you won't have to worry about diseases and such as you would with going to a pet store where they get their dogs from puppy mills...

great decision .. the dog looks very cute ... the kids will love it ... just remember to be patient with her ..

Yeah, basically, I'm expecting to go thru what we went thru with my youngest at 2 all over again. First kid was so easy, second really tested us.

We had actually found a pregnant mother, who gave birth after she was rescued, but those puppies were snapped up really quickly.

The part I'm really pleased with is that the breeder is within about 40 minutes from us, and said numerous times to feel free to call him whenever we have any questions. He was such a nice guy.

I'm so excited! I so want to show them the pics and say "look here's our new puppy" but on the other hand, we so want to surprise them. They've wanted one for so long, I'm dying to see the looks on thier faces when they get her.

Congratulations on the new addition to your family Adina. We have 2 dogs and they can be very trying at times, but I couldn't imagine life without them.

Nintendo ds. That's the one she's hoping for. And she's going to ask Santa, because his elves will make it, and it will be free, so it doesn't matter how expensive it is. As told to dad this past weekend.

Great looking pup! How hard it is to wait! Thank goodness the kids don't know. I'm supposed to be patient and I always want to bring 'em home right away, even though I know better.

Just puppy proof the house, check out your local petco (or place of choice) and have a handy friendly vet and lots of paper. Lots of paper for housebreaking.

Oh, wait until the singing begins! My mom's beagle friends are most known for their voices.
Oh what fun we'll have a 3am when the moon shines through the window, across the yard or some unusual noise sets up the dog with a reason to let you know that he knows!

Best wishes and looking forward to dog and kid pictures!
