Time to say thanks (also) JS and others

A few weeks ago I posted a thread about my yellow photos. Many on the board gave me great input.

I followed the instructions by JS and purchased a new filter and the world has been getting better since. I normally don't like to show my photos because the one's on this site are usually really good, but I felt that I had to show the teachers that the student was listening and using the information and time was not given in vain. So here goes with a few shots from my daughters tournament this past weekend in NC.

At least the yellow is gone....

    Thanks,
    Don

Hey Don - once again, I'm glad to hear that this forum is really helping people. And it's great to see the moderators getting some praise. JSPhoto is a hard-working photographer and big contributor here. I know he's not getting rich shooting so giving him a nod probably makes him feel good. I know it would me.

I think you should show your photos more. The more variety the better here. Plus, I think you're better than you realize. I think you've got some great stuff here. The 2nd, 3rd, and 5the photos are all really nice.

    Jimmy B and Photo-John,

I appreciate your comments. I love to shoot and don't get to do it as much as I would like to, not to mention the only thing that I ever shoot is my kids and their sports, but that is ok as that is where I normally am.

One of my main problems is that I haven't properly learned photoshop and the photos here are normally "finished" in photoshop and are really nice. I don't really understand how to properly "fix" photos but I am still learning.

    Thanks again for the support.

    Excellent !
My picks form here are #1, 3, 5 (the curse of the even numbered photo!)
If you get the exposure and the framing right, most of the time you don't need to fix them.
Unless like #2 you're shooting with the light behind your subject.

    SmartWombat,

Thanks for the nod, it helps to have others tell you that a photo is a good photo or not. And it does stroke the ego a little. It is one thing for a mother (on my daughters team) to say nice things about a photo of her daughter, heck what else are they going to say, but to have people who also shoot sports take time to leave constructive critism means more to me.

    Thanks

Hey Don, thanks for the kind words , and thanks Photo John as well.
Wow, #3 is great! I better watch out, you'll take my job ...oh, wait, I'm basically unemployed, maybe you better keep your job a while
Seriously though that is a really nice catch there, and I am glad I could help you, thats why I'm here.
It's amazing what that filter change did isn't it? A lot of people just think a UV filter is a UV filter, heck I did until the salesman I deal with told me about the difference. The first time I shot with the UV (0) I was amazed, no more tint! Those $15 filters were OK as lens protection goes, but I never realized they affected color.
Keep up the good work there Don!
