    my first in many areas

i took the 70-200 2.8 to the jr rodeo this last weekend and put the 1.4 exteneder i just got on for some tests.

have never tried sports or the 1.4 as i tend to shoot wildlife but figured it was time to start.

sun was pretty harsh as it was afternoon but ya get what ya can at rodeos.

i was not unimpressed but since i have never shot sports without the 1.4 how would i know?

seems there uis some softness and over exposure though the histogram said most were in the correct parameter.

    what do ya'll think?

i agree with you. Sometimes the histogram can be thrown off. a few of them look overexposed, which is a shame because they are nice shots.

The light looks very, very harsh in those shots. I do like the last one, though. The composition makes it look like the horse is jumping over something.

When shooting barrel racing, try to get them coming around barrel 1 or barrel 2. That way those viewing the photos have an idea of what is happening.
Also, if you have to shoot from behind the fence, get lower and try to shoot through the rails - it makes it seem more like you are right there.
