Racing - Meadowlands by Night, Belmont by day ...

Had a busy weekend Sept. 29 & Oct. 1 - opening nights for the thoroughbreds at the Meadowlands and the Jerome Handicap on Sunday at Belmont.

The Meadowlands was particularly hard to shoot at night. Forget about shooting the steeplechase race - not enough light, shutter too slow. I know I need to push the ISO, but then I need a program to fix the noise and Photoshop 6.0 isn't going to cut it. Is 7.0 better for this, or can someone recommend a program better suited?

Anyway, here's 2 of the only 3 decent live action shots - recommendations would be must appreciative...

1 - McDynamo, 3 tiime world champion steeplechaser. I couldn't get clear shots of the jumps, but I though it was interesting against the screen, which was showing him winning

2 - 5th Race - Brettitus & Keta battle to the wire, which was the only place I could get a good picture because the lights at the finish line came up

These are from Sunday 10/1 at Belmont. Tried a few different things in the undercard races.

1 - Close up of Humorous Venture (outside) & All About as they fight for 2nd money

2 - Race 8 - coming around the far turn heading for home

3 - The Jerome Handicap for 3yo colts - Discreet Cat with jockey Garret Gomez sitting chilly. They destroyed this field. I am so in love with this horse - he's big, beauiful and extremely talented, and a joy to shoot.

Once again some greeat action. Nightime horse racing can sure be tricky. the only time I tried it was at The Red Mile and with some harness racing. I had mixed results. You might try something like Noise Ninja for the Higher ISO images. I haven't used it but I have heard it give pretty good results. Several here on the sports forum have used it, someone my reply on the subject. Keeneland kicks off in the next few days. They had an open house this weekend to showoff the new track surface and the other renovation and had over 5,000 show up just of look at and walk on the track. Not many place would get that kind of response.
Don't forget about the Gallery. Are your photos there??
