    First game of Freshmen football

Well this was my son's first game of the year. Just wanted to share some shots I took during the game. As always any comments (good or bad) are always welcome.

My son's team is called the Lancers, as in Knights Lance, and are in white and red.

This last one is of my son, who plays offensive tackle.

    Thanks for looking.

    Jim,

Good start with your football shots. The first one is fairly good, but it looked like you were floating between the sun and shade as that particular shot was taken. Don't worry, there isn't much you can do about that.

While the action is good in all of your shots, you seem to be taking them from the wrong angle. One thing I would recommend is get the players as they are moving towards you so you can see their faces. Their expressions usually add something to a shot that action alone can't.

As for the last collage....and speaking as a former offensive lineman....your son needs to keep his hands on the inside. If it tries to wrap his opponent up like he has in that picture, he's bound to get called for holding, and you get better leverage on the defender if he has his hands in-between the opponent's shoulders.

Nice shots. I agree with Sean about trying to get action to you, but that is not always possible. Nice colors and cropping. Great job.....

And I agree with Sean about the holding, BUT it is only a penalty if you get called .

Thanks Sean and Phil for the comments. I agree about getting the faces in the shots, which is something I need to work on and put some effort into.

Yea Sean, I've told him about his hands but you know how kids are. This is his first year ever playing tackle and it's all a learning experience for him.

Jim, great shots! I can't wait to try football this year! The color seems good and some could probably use a little cropping or shallower depth of field - the backgrounds are a little busy. I like the first shot alot! I'm looking forward to more football shots from you!
