The softer & gentler side of our O-line....

Sorry I haven't been around much. I'm up to the tip of my ears in pre-season football photos and preparing a slideshow for our big football meeting and talent show this friday night. Also I'm putting together the program that is sold b4 each game. This is a huge job.

My slideshow is to show all of the hard work that is done by the players and that the games are just a small part. So much of it is serious.

Yesterday I had a request by the o-line coach to take pics showing that there is some fun in football. I haven't laughed so hard in years.

That's my son #74 up on top.

The sun came out and I ended up over-exposed. I'm so mad at myself for not knowing better.

These are great JETA. Nice to be able to show the kids as kids and enjoying themselves. You have a wonderful relationship with the team and coaches. I hope you are not all freebies for them. Although when you are close to a program it's great to be able to contribute to the success it's also a lot of work and many times a good bit of expense involved. You differently need to get something for your efforts.
Don't forget about the Gallery. Are your photos there??

I was thinking the same thing. You got these big boys who try to be a mean as possible and put the game face on but here they are just being kids. Those are great.

Re: The softer & gentler side of our O-line....

    Thanks OT!

Right now I'm not wanting to involve money. The program is a volunteer position and as for my photos I don't want $$ at this point in time.

My foot is in the door to do photography for the high school if I want to pursue it. Someone else needs that job and I do not. I'd feel really weird taking work from someone with something that just started as a volunteer thing for me.....

I may do the team photographs and portraits next year, but to help raise money to make the football program more inclusive. After that my son will be off to college and at that point I'll probably go after it as a job.

Right now it is a labor of love. I love every second I'm on the field with my boys.

    JS, I had a blast!

I am getting more used to the 1D. It's funny because I never ever shoot on anything but manual. The things I need to figure out now are custom white balance, what evaluation mode, do I need to worry about color temp........ There's one more thing and it is escaping my old brain.:mad2:

Re: The softer & gentler side of our O-line....

I found I shoot the MK II N one over the center on the exposure meter and it works out better. I normally shoot in Standard mode with AWB and +2blue & +2 green I beleive. I can't look at it at the moment as it's in the truck. I forget the rest of my settings but will look for you later tonight.

Re: The softer & gentler side of our O-line....

Thanks JS. Right now I believe I'm on partial metering mode. What do you use? The color settings are as the factory sent them. So you think AWB is ok. I'm kinda relieved to read this. Lazzzeeee me. lol

I'm also cracking up that you shoot one over the center on the exposure meter. Since getting the 1D that's been common practice for me. Last year I never paid attention to it. I just went off how my pics looked in the lcd. :blush2:
