    Sports Day

Not exactly in the same league as everyone else here but my children's sports day was my first attempt with action shots using my Canon and guess what lens? LOL.

I think my little 50mm did a pretty good job

But look at the determination in Jenny's face and how proud Danielle looks wearing her gold medal.
Jenny came 2nd in her running race and Danielle came 1st in her running race.

Lisa didn't run this year but she came 1st last year in her running race. I'll see if I can find a pic that I took for that using my sony cybershot DSC-P10

This is Lisa winning her running race (she is in black tracksuit bottoms)
And, yes, Danielle came 1st in her running race last year too

The race is a little out of focus.

Thank goodness for that! I thought it was my eye sight LOL.

Nah, not really. I'm well aware of that. It was taken with my sony cybershot DSC-P10 and I feel sad that I didn't have my Canon to capture Lisa winning.

That explains it. Getting action of someone running towards you is a toughie. I'm still struggling with fireworks......heck, I'm struggling with everything.

Field grass is darker than 18% grey, and the meters get fooled, that's why your highlights are blown. Underexpose by at least a stop, sometimes more in bright light, to get the highlights back in check.

How to tell the most experienced shooter in a group? They have the least amount of toys on them.

    Re: Sports Day

Always worth checking the histogram !
On the 350D you can't do the fancy stuff, but it's still worth reviewing the histogram for a few test shots.

When I set up the auto-review on a 1D I have a choice of full image or with histogram. Same when viewing, I can view with histogram or without by default.
So for Bev (if you're reading this) you might want to setup the options to show histogram in one, and not in the other depending on how you normally use the screen...
