This is a photo that is really kind of weird, obviously not what I was trying to get, but look at the lady in the middle kind of ghostly... not a great photo just different

Yup, you focused on the background. This is one reason I wondered about the switches on your lens. Use Center Spot and aim at the player(s) you want to focus on and then push the * to focus and then the shutter as soon as your in focus.
