Happy New year from all of us Downunder

It arrived in a big bang, fireworks again on Sydney Harbour and the theme this year is a HEART, meaning that all Australians have a good well meaning heart and it goes out to all and everyone no matter what race, colour or creed. Some of you might have seen recent riots in Sydney between Leboniese and Aussies, it wasn't reported on properly, it really started the week before when a gang attacked three teenage volunteer lifesafers on the beach and it escolated from there into something that was probably flamed by the radio talkback, press and TV more than it should have been.

Take care everyone, I hope it is a safe, happy and good futrue for all.

    Happy New Year!

Peter, actually that's the way I heard it. I listen to Public Radio which is usually a little less "sensational"...

Re: Happy New year from all of us Downunder

It has been an interesting period In Sydney. I the riots (hardly probably no worse than a drunken frat party) happened out the front of my girlfriends house. She is one of the ethnic groups implicated and i am the other. a few days after it happened we walked hand in hand through the hot spots a few strange looks and a little attention from the police and that was all. but more importantly i was on the most beautiful harbour in the world (show me the photos to proove me wrong!!) on new years eve! i did get a little bit in trouble for taking photos instead of being romantic. anyhow here is some of my shots I was impressed with the sharpness given i was handheld on a boat with a 200mm lens!!!

Australia especially Sydney, do know how to party, it is always a spectacular double display (one at 9pm for the children and then at midnight for the rest) and always has a theme. I think the best one has been the Eternity display a few years ago now.
