    48 hours in NYC...

Two weeks ago, I had a last-minute trip to NYC for the weekend. My wife had a short business meeting there and asked me if I'd like to make a weekend out of it, and I think I answered before she finished asking the question. NYC is a fascinating place although I've only spent two short weekends there now. I think we saw as much as we possibly could have given the time we were there, and when we had enough Saturday night we went back to the hotel room to watch Saturday Night Live - being taped only a few blocks from where we were watching it this time.

I was hoping to meet Liz, but this time of year she is very busy with all the great work she does. I hope to be back soon enough. Thanks for the heads-up about the holiday windows though! So here's a few quick shots - just brought the Coolpix this time.

I really like the 2nd one the best. makes you feel like you are lost in the big city! The last two are exposed really well, but are kind of creepy! What are they from?

    Thanks,

Who are they, where are they, how can they possibly know all the rules?

    Steve,

I sure wanted to go to NYC that Saturday! However, I'm glad you and your wife had such a nice time. I'm hoping we can have another NYC gathering this spring. That would be something we could begin planning in March sometime.

From your pictures, it looks like you were enjoying every minute. I'm actually going to get a 2nd chance - I'll be in NYC next week when my friend Janice, from Ohio comes to visit. We'll probably go there a couple of times since she wants to see so much - and I live only 30 minutes away by bus. Janice called last week to say she had some time to drive to NJ next week - could we see the sights in NY. Her husband died in September and this will be a nice break for her - and me.

Thanks for posting your pictures - and sharing your weekend with us.

    Liz

Thanks, you two. The last two shots are from a store's Christmas display windows. Can't remember the store but it's right near FAO Schwartz which still has the big "piano" on the floor that was used in the Tom Hanks Movie "Big". Second shot is from Times Square. Great weekend, I love NYC!

I'll get hassled for this, but I'll take NY pizza over Chicago pizza any day...

I like the second and fourth. The fourth has a "twilight zonish" feel to it. I lived in Paterson for 18 years, and then in The City for 2. And sometimes I wonder "What was I thinking?!?" when I realize that I never took a single pic of anything in either city (well, took one or two of the falls and I think I threw them away eventually). Sigh. Thanks for bringing back the memories! Don't miss living there, but do miss the ambience.

Nice shots, I really like the first and second one. I like the first one cause it shows the typical hustle of a major city along with another person taking a picture, could be on vaction. I have to agree with shutterman on the second one, makes me fell like I'm lost and I don't know which building ends and starts, cool shot...

Thanks - actually I kinda like the 3rd of the group for some reason...

NYC should be one of those places on everybody's "have to see" list, but I can't imagine living there. Both times I've been there I've left wanting more, but usually I prefer to take vacations in the middle of nowhere. Complete opposites!
