Soccer!

I am in the process of backing up pictures & deleting ones that are useless, I came across a bunch of soccer pictures that I liked. I must say, trying to shoot a soccer game at noon can be fun with lighting. All shot with either my Nikon D1 & Sigma 135-400, or Nikon D1h & Sigma 70-200 f2.8 lens.

Some nice action and timing there! The only thing I think is you need to get the light in front of them, or in PS bring out the shadows as the faces are dark in most of the shots. You have great timing though
I started cleaning up drives last night....I need more DVD's! I used 8 just for November...too many photos and the new camera eats up drive space...

I agree with JS, Jorgemonkey. You have some excellent timing, but the shadows are distracting. What version of photoshop are you using?

I've got CS2. I did a little bit of lightening of the shadows. I'm hopin to get some cloudy games in so the lighting is much better. I tried to keep the sun at my back, but its kinda hard when its right overhead I'll probabl post a few more later tonite or tomorow when I get to go through more.

Great timing and wonderful action shots. Now for that noon sun.... the last couple of weeks here we have been talking mostly about dark gyms and how to get more light on the the subject. Now along comes another problem to much light so now we have harsh shadows. Boy you talk about a bunch that is never satisfied. This just goes to show that each season and each sport brings it's own set of problems to solve. But I do love to shot sports and I'll take those problems and find a way to get the best shot possible.

watch your horizons. THey are almost all crooked. The second set is much better than the first. Sharper, better colors, etc. the first group is too flat, and looks like you used a high f-stop in one. Watch distracting backgrounds too. A background of trees is much better than a tractor.

I put the images in my gallery also, as well as the camera, lens, and settings when the pics were taken. I didn't even think about straightening the horizons. Guess I shouldn't watch TV and preview pictures before I post them at the same time.

The first 4 images were shot with the D1, the first and third with the 135-400, and the second and fourth with the 70-200.

The other three were all shot with the D1h & Sigma 70-200. I like the 135-400, but it is just sooo slow for sports and it likes to hunt around every once in a while. For my first few weekends of shooting not to shabby of a job if I can say so myself.

He's got some games comin up soon HOPEFULLY I'll be able to make so I can put up a few more shots.
