I Like that first photo a lot. It looks pretty magenta on my calibrated monitor, though. Was this in your local paper? If you're wondering how much it's worth, why don't you just ask them? I think that would be the best strategy. Just tell them you've never been published, you'd like to do more work for them, and how much should you get paid. It's open, honest, and it should get a similar response. Should...

Hey it can't hurt to ask them if they need a stringer photog. I do it, and it's about 1/3 my income from shooting.
The only bad part of it is they will tell you what they want....it may not be something that you want to shoot but hey it's a few bucks. Fortunately the papers I have dealt with are easy to get along with, and normally rely on my choice of what I give them. About all they do now is say, get something of this guy or that one....anything else is icing on the cake for them as they know it will have some sort of meaning to the story, even if it isn't the top rusher or scorer.
Each game I shoot I send three to five shots and they choose from those....more times than not though I could send 1 or 2 and they'ed be happy campers.
