    Winter Football....

Here are some pictures from my fraternity's flag football game. They got rocked 64-30 by a bar team that included two of our alumni. Its amazing how serious some people take flag football too...

Alright, enough of my rant. I suppose you want to see the pictures.

What kind of lighting was available in the venue...in the top one, the runner's skin looks a tad grey. The bottom looks a little oversharpened, but it could be my eyes ;) .

I'm thinking too much NeatImage maybe? Just that the pictures look too smooth which is from too much noise removal....a little noise aint bad, just enough to give texture.

Actually, I didn't use any NeatImage with these. I didn't try to remove any noise this time since I didn't think they were very noisy when I opened them.

The lighting in the place changed with every row. It looked like they had converted old tungsten lights to flourescent, but each row seemed like it had a different temperature and intensity.

whats your exif? looks like the place i used to play indoor soccer in. I'll be working there this winter and also taking photos. yeah, gotta hate that lighting. Even after playing in a place like that, when you walk out into the sun you're all disoriented. I think #1 is your strongest, but I'd like to see a bit more of the tackler perhaps.

    Re: Winter Football....

The images were shot as RAWs, Livin, and I was shooting in AV mode with my apeture set at 2.8. Shooting manual would have been a PITA because of the lighting.

There isn't much more of the tackler to show for #1. I wish there was, it would have made a better image. It sort of happened that I had the right focal length at the time for the shot.

Dont ya just love that kind of lighting? I had to shoot at two places last night and found something new yesyerday on the MKII N so I tried it out...a bit more adjusting and I'll get it right, but you can adjust the WB of various colors as well as setting the color temp and the shots at the yellow gym are getting better and not so yellow. I should get the right setting on Friday night though. I'm not far off now. More on this later.

nonetheless, a good photo. Have you tried upping the saturation? WHat ISO were you on?

ISO was 800, and no, I haven't tried upping the saturation. Great suggestion. I'll give it a try and post the results.

JS, I think I know what your talking about, but I don't know the name of the feature. Its on the 20D as well, and Canon's DPP software allows you to do something like that as well.

I tried playing with the saturation. How does this look?
